If you connect to your local area network by using a virtual private network (VPN), you don't have to open your PC to the public internet. If you do that, then the router's port forwarding will always point to the correct IP address. You might also consider setting up a static IP address on your PC so the internal IP address doesn't change. If the host you're using to connect uses dynamic IP address, set the source restriction to allow access from the whole range of that particular ISP. So, if you know you're only going to connect from work, you can add the IP address for your work network - that lets you avoid opening the port to the entire public internet. With most routers you can define which source IP or source network can use port mapping. Your router automatically updates the DDNS service with your new IP address, should it change. To avoid running into this issue, consider using Dynamic DNS - this lets you connect to the PC using an easy to remember domain name, instead of the IP address. The router's IP address can change - your internet service provider (ISP) can assign you a new IP at any time. It is preferable to use a VPN.Īfter you map the port, you'll be able to connect to your host PC from outside the local network by connecting to the public IP address of your router (the second bullet above). If you must, make sure you have a strong password set for your PC. You're opening your PC up to the internet, which is not recommended. In most cases this is 3389 - that's the default port used by Remote Desktop connections. There are many ways to find this - you can search (in Bing or Google) for "my IP" or view the Wi-Fi network properties (for Windows 10). Your public IP address (the router's IP). Find the network configuration with an "Operational" status and then get the IPv4 address. PC internal IP address: Look in Settings > Network & Internet > Status > View your network properties. For a general discussion of the steps, check out wikiHow to Set Up Port Forwarding on a Router.īefore you map the port you'll need the following: Specific steps for enabling port forwarding depend on the router you're using, so you'll need to search online for your router's instructions. Port forwarding simply maps the port on your router's IP address (your public IP) to the port and IP address of the PC you want to access. You have a couple of options: use port forwarding or set up a VPN. If you need to connect to your PC from outside of the network your PC is running on, you need to enable that access. This means you need direct access to the PC (sometimes called "the host"). When you connect to your PC by using a Remote Desktop client, you're creating a peer-to-peer connection. Applies to: Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 The boiled shoe as dinner for two starving men on Thanksgiving and the baked potatoes dancing the Oceana at forks’ end have long secured a fondly held place in the popular consciousness. Gold Rush, in addition to being the film Chaplin claimed he wanted “to be remembered by,” is also home to a handful of some of the most enduring examples of his comedic genius. While Gold Rush does not conjure the haunting sentiments of City Lights (1931), or the progressive social critique of The Great Dictator (1940), this is the Little Tramp as his most inviting and adorable. Chronicling the exploits of Chaplin’s famous Little Tramp character as he heads north to the Alaskan frontier hot on the heels of the gold rush, the film is rife with colourful characters burly prospectors, small town lotharios, and luminescent silent screen beauties all serve as instruments for high comedy. The Gold Rush, first released in 1925 and subsequently re-released in 1942 in a version several minutes shorter with a new score and voice over, is a perennial classic. In this climate, Pacific Cinematheque delivers filmgoers a reason to celebrate with two new recently restored 35mm prints of Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush and Henri-Georges Clouzot’s The Wages of Fear. While the 2013 expiration date is little more than educated guess work - and many a cinephile is putting up a fight (a recent online petition from twitter's being a noble and notable example) – it is certain that the unique pleasure of watching stories told by beaming light through a strip of film is becoming increasingly rare. Movie theatres, given little alternative, are gradually switching over from traditional 35mm projection to DCP (Digital Cinema Package) compliant projectors, the industry standard for digital exhibition. With major studios less and less inclined to bear the cost of shipping actual film prints out to theatres when presented with digital alternatives, some are now predicting the effective end of celluloid film print distribution by as early as 2013. In the midst of the digital revolution, film has found itself on the endangered species list. So long story there…to put in in very short terms one of the best things with git is the branching model and speaking about branching, Git Flow is a very popular such a “branching workflow model” that we’ll be taking a look at now and how to use the built-in support that SourceTree offers for it. Still in beta it still does an excellent job at most cases (and it’s free just like git). The tooling is still pretty basic but I think for most cases it does do a good job.Ĭoming from TFS-land however, I still missed the Source Control Explorer so I was very pleased to learn about SourceTree from Atlassian which is a GIT UI for Windows. However I do encourage people coming into git from TFS to learn the command-line first before using a UI.Īgain, being a Microsoft guy, I do like my UIs so I was very pleased when Microsoft finally revealed that they where now supporting git in Visual Studio 2012. Switching to git really forced me to get to learn the git command-line (yeah, git relies heavily on the command-line). My favourite way of describing the difference between the TFS and Git branching models is as follows, in TFS – branching is essentially like the TV Show Fringe in that you have to deal with parallel worlds crossing between those world is a difficult process with severe health risks to the person “crossing over”, whereas with Git is more like Doctor Who: branching is essentially dealing with time streams where you can easily go forwards, backwards and even sideways. Coming from a Microsoft environment with first Source Safe and later on TFS (or TFVC really) it was a bit of a leap to take from Centralized Version Control to Distributed Version Control since that is really the biggest leap to take (I think).Įndjin has very good way of describing the difference as: However, a couple of months ago I started using git (or github if I should be completely honest…but that’s based on git) for version control. I like their products, development tools, the whole lineup really. You can change this in Preferences now to other defaults (e.g. Added support for default push options other than ‘matching branches’.In addition to bug fixes, we’ve added a couple more of the features you’ve asked for. Taking your off-road Super Build roaring through the desert or sliding your drift Super Build along the mountain roads will be special.” “I think that people will strike some sort of affinity to our old legends… Where you end up taking your derelict project will be one of your defining moments in the game and being able to take them beyond what you have been able to before will set them apart from the rest. A Nissan Fairlady 240 ZG and an original 1963 Volkswagen Beetle are out there to be found. “However, there are European and Japanese cars thrown into the mix, or rather left abandoned in the world waiting for our players to find them. “Payback is set in the US and so we do have the ’65 Ford Mustang, a ’55 Chevrolet Bel Air, and a 1965 Chevrolet Stepside Pickup.” “We wanted to select known legends that most people would have an affinity with,’ said Alban. There will be five derelicts to dig up in Payback, three of which are completely new to Need for Speed. “Once they’ve had their first hint and found their first derelict chassis they’ll unlock more pointers and clues as to where the parts for that car are scattered around the world,” explained Alban. Players will get hints while playing Payback regarding the locations of the hidden cars. So for us it was one of those sparks that formed into a complete game feature.” We looked back and realised that we had a large world that we could utilise to guide our players into exploring areas that they wouldn’t necessarily see or experience if they’re hooked deeply into the racing. “Hindsight is a wonderful thing and the words, ‘Wouldn’t it have been cool if.’ are always bandied around a studio once a game has shipped. The idea of taking your own car on a journey from scrap to stock to supercar is an exciting one.” “We’ve introduced a depth to it through having to find multiple chassis and multiple parts throughout the world which can then be built into a car that suits one of the driving styles and character traits. We've introduced a depth to it through having to find multiple chassis and multiple parts throughout the world.“What we’ve done with our derelicts in Payback is combine the exploration elements of driving around a rich and diverse open world with the gameplay elements of finding parts for your cars and the exciting action driving experience into one,” said Alban. Oddly, Google didn't use the same operating system on the Nest Hub that it used for the Lenovo Smart Display and the JBL Link View. It's a great feature that's ahead of Alexa's similar recipe feature on the Echo Show. Simply say "resume cooking" when you're ready and Google will go right back to where you left off in the recipe. You can also multitask while you cook and watch videos, play music, set a timer or add something to your shopping list. If you ask "how much tomato sauce?" Google will understand that you're referring to the recipe and will give the appropriate answer. Let Google expand your cooking repertoire. Google Assistant will read the ingredients and directions out loud and you can see them listed on the screen. Search for a recipe by voice, or find one in your phone and send it to your display. Change the temp of your thermostat, and you'll see buttons and sliders to tweak the temp further or change the mode.Īll of these features are the same on all of the Google Assistant-equipped smart displays, and my favorite feature of both the Lenovo Smart Display and the JBL Link View has made its way intact to the Google Nest Hub. Other helpful features include routines, which are customizable grouped commands that allow you to play videos or podcasts, get directions to work and turn on your connected lights with a simple command like "good morning." If you control your smart home with a voice command, you'll see your device pop up on the screen. You can't download apps or browse the web as you could on an ordinary tablet, but all of the content of the Google Nest Hub is meant to be visible from across the room. You can always swipe right on the screen to go back a page, or swipe up for quick settings like volume and brightness. Search for local restaurants and you'll see pictures of nearby places. Check the weather, and you'll see illustrations of the forecast for the week. Plug it in and set it up on your Wi-Fi using the Google Home app, then, thanks to the built-in Google Assistant, you can ask Google Nest Hub any question you'd ask the original Google Home.Īs we saw on the Lenovo Smart Display and the JBL Link View, Google Assistant makes good use of the touchscreen with helpful visuals after you ask a question. You can issue a wide variety of voice commands to the Google Nest Hub. The second-gen Amazon Echo Show heard me more often from a greater distance, but the Hub's mics are on par with those in the smart displays from Lenovo and JBL. Expect to need to speak up if you're playing loud music, but that's standard for any smart speaker. It also fared well over background noise while I stood in the same room. It even heard me from an adjacent room as long as I had the door open. The Nest Hub understood my voice commands from across the great room of the CNET Smart Home. Thankfully, the Hub's microphones held up better under scrutiny. In fact, the sound quality is more on par with Google's smallest smart speaker, the Google Home Mini, which still beat the Nest Hub in our tests. Unfortunately, the sound quality isn't in the same league as other smart displays such as the Amazon Echo Show or the JBL Link View. It's fine if you want to listen to background music, but it's not particularly loud or crisp. You might not like the sound quality of the Nest Hub if you're an audiophile. From left to right, the Lenovo Smart Display, Google Nest Hub and JBL Link View. Composed of addictive notes of coffee blended perfectly with smooth lavender. Get ready to be Immediately transported to the cosy ambiance of your favorite coffee shop with Café, inspired by Coffee Break. Durability and Sillage are unfortunately only mediocre.Toasted notes of arabica beans, and fresh pastries with lavender. However, coffee and lavender are combined very artistically and harmoniously here. Due to the lavender note, I do not perceive it as pure gourmand. Coffee Break is a delicate, gentle feel-good aroma. I can't really make out milk, but I think I can detect a slight vanilla note in the coffee. As it progresses, the lavender recedes into the background and leaves behind a delicate, sweet (but not too sweet) coffee. The fragrance quickly envelops its wearer gently and comfortably. It is fluffy and warm, a few people sit scattered at the tables In the prelude, a beautiful authentic coffee bean is immediately apparent, but underscored by slightly sparkling, fresh lavender. This small cafe is known only to those who know the area. Here, the masses do not crowd in, which are just about to populate the crowded department stores again. Slightly frozen through, you enter the small, quiet town café in the side street. Rather an extended, cosy visit to a café, for example on a dreary, rainy November day. Coffee break? Maybe even a quick coffee-to-go? No, not for me at all. ? My question whether I would like to smell so, I answered me despite the only still light coffee smell with no, because the fragrance just could not convince me personally as other fragrances doĬoffee break. As a wearer of the fragrance you pull so no extreme fragrance clouds with you, which is why the fragrance would be a pleasant fragrance for everyday use in my opinion. The sillage and durability is rather naja, as the fragrance after the first strong coffee note immediately after spraying on a little flattens. However, the lavender still remains creamy on my skin throughout due to the slight coffee/milk note in the background. He is somehow a little more synthetic, in a few statements I could discover shower gel comparisons and I must say that he is not directly comparable to it, but perhaps because of the synthetic something could be classified in this direction. But it's somehow not the fresh lavender that you rub lightly between your fingers directly on the bush. As soon as the coffee note has slowly (or just a little faster for me) faded away, the lavender comes through. But I put the question back and wanted to wait for the further course of the fragrance. I'm fascinated by the smell in the top note, because it really smells like a nice latte and at the same time I also thought to myself "Nah, doesn't have to be", because I asked myself the question whether I myself would like to smell so extremely like coffee. But not a black coffee, somehow a nice creamy coffee with milk foam, like my mother and my best friend like to drink. And so did the Coffee Break, because I would be downright slain by a cloud of coffee on my skin. But now to the fragrance: The first time spray on, aroused a certain anticipation and curiosity in me, because the Replicas, which I was allowed to smell so far wonderful and special have changed. In advance, I must mention briefly that I am not a coffee drinker and find the smell of coffee in the long run or depending on the mood exhausting. At least to their course, since I found the course of the two above-mentioned fragrances very intriguing. Since I was excited by the two fragrances because they are so special and interesting, I naturally had slight expectations for the other fragrances. I got the fragrance from a dear perfumer, because I had through Whispers in the Library and By the Fireplace desire for the other Replica fragrances.
